THE ROLE

MiQ is looking for a Lead IT security specialist engineer, who can own the information and data security at MiQ. The ideal candidate is someone who has skills, expertise and experience in information security and data protection practices, process, and tools. This person would be reporting to the IT Director and is expected to work closely with the Devops team and the engineering functions. The candidate is responsible for all our cloud infrastructure, management, monitoring and automation of necessary aspects. The person also ensures safeguard of information systems and data assets by identifying and solving potential risks and actual security problems. The candidate will analyse where security breaches may occur or have occurred, and repair or strengthen systems against such breaches. This relates to the systems and networks used by company to manage their data and information technology in the cloud as well as in their office premises. The person is likely to have expertise in working with different types of computer networks and environments - cloud computing, laptop/desktop, software applications and mobile technologies. Whilst based in their Bangalore office, this person will also be expected to work with IT engineers and consultants in other office locations to implement the necessary security infrastructure process and policies globally.

JOB RESPONSIBILITITES

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Protects office network and systems by defining and implementing access privileges, controls, and remote access protocols.
  • Owns and implements the necessary access controls and privileges on cloud resources.
  • Automates aspects of cloud infrastructure as much as possible, e.g., provisioning, alerting, logging, auditing, monitoring using relevant tools and scripts
  • Recognizes problems by identifying abnormalities, reporting violations.
  • Implements security improvements by assessing current situation, evaluating trends, and anticipating future needs
  • Determines security violations and inefficiencies by conducting periodic audits.
  • Drafts information security policy and ensures these are understood, accepted and followed by all employees.
  • Drafts risk assessment policy and works with engineering and data science leads to ensures the policy is adopted and executed periodically
  • Owns the incident or breach response policy and is responsible for implementation when needed
  • Carry out vulnerability assessment and penetration tests on systems and applications to expose weaknesses in security
  • Consults with engineering and data science teams and helps them adopt security aspects in design, development, and testing
  • Keeps users informed by preparing performance reports, communicating system status.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Technology expertise

  • Bachelors or master’s degree in Computer science/Cyber security or related field
  • Certifications or Qualifications in industry standard programs (e.g., CISSP, AWS certifications)
  • At least 4 years of experience working in the information security domain and owning security responsibilities and areas of a technology organisation
  • Understanding of data confidentiality issues, and the laws relating to them in different markets
  • Attention to detail, strong analytical abilities, and problem-solving skills
  • A methodical and well-organised approach to work
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Demonstrate ease in working in a global environment, collaborate across in-country and international teams
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
