Job Overview

Outbrain is seeking a highly motivated, passionate and organized Director of Performance Publishers, Engage to focus on the globally distributed activity of our Performance Publishers team. You’ll work with a team of resourceful, bright and proactive people, who all individually collaborate within a fast-growing team.

The Role:

We’re looking for a senior profile with a strong analytical mindset to work closely with Performance Publishers to develop and grow the Engage (monetization) business. Our ideal candidate will have a strong business development experience, ideally within a digital and publishing environment, supported by exemplary relationship management skills.

As a Director of Performance Publishers, Engage you will take full ownership of Outbrain’s Performance Publisher book of business, leading the account management team, and growing the book of business through optimization of existing clients and converting leads for new business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish long-term profitable business relationships with our globally distributed Performance Publishers
  • Manage the Account Management team, with the responsibility for growing client revenue through upselling products and delivering data-driven QBRs
  • Set quarterly goals and objectives for the team to reach
  • Find new growth opportunities, close deals with new publishers
  • Negotiate distribution contracts with publishers, along with our Legal team’s support
  • Forecast our growth and identify our needs, working closely with our Finance Team
  • Collaborate with other Outbrain departments (Account Management, Finance, Legal, Product, Business Intelligence) to manage clients’ expectations and ensure successful, sustainable partnerships
  • Create a solid feedback loop to provide input to product management teams on features that would provide partners with additional value

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in digital media with a focus on the publishing landscape, preferably focused on native
  • Solid understanding of publisher digital technologies/site monetization and ability to explain product benefits in detail
  • Proven experience structuring and negotiating deals for a digital company or deals where an online component and revenue were central
  • Ability to leverage and manipulate data for internal forecasting and reporting needs
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and communicate trends in data
  • Innovative thinker who can consider strategic and tactical levels simultaneously to propose and build alternative plans
  • Focus on “getting things done” in a fast-moving and challenging publisher environment
  • Self‐motivated and comfortable moving forward with only directional input; nobody will be writing the to‐do list on your behalf
  • Experience in working with stakeholders across time zones, locations and cultures
