Job Overview

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Producing monthly management accounts including team profit and loss accounts, budgets, cash flows, variance analysis and commentaries
  • Ownership and review of balance sheet accounts and reconciliations
  • Control of accounting for accruals/prepayments, deferred revenues, payroll allocation and other journal entries on Xero
  • Assist with payroll processing for UK and overseas employees on various platforms - you don’t need to be an expert in every country’s rules as we use local payroll apps/bureau with technical support but you should be confident in learning and using multiple platforms and reconciling the reports
  • Responsibility for the intercompany reconciliations in different currencies
  • Ensuring all foreign exchange gains and losses are appropriately accounted for
  • Undertake ongoing review of cash flow
  • Calculation, presentation and payment of VAT, PSA, local overseas taxes and tax packs
  • Main point of contact with various local accountants and tax advisors
  • Support the VP Finance in the preparation of local and US GAAP annual statutory financial statements and supporting schedules for the year-end audit process
  • Helping department heads such as HR, IT, sales and others to manage budgets/Capex project spends
  • Suggesting system improvements and change
  • Supporting/developing junior members of the team and overseeing accuracy of their Xero entries
  • Ad Hoc requirements as needed in Finance, including shared cover for AR/AP tasks during absences.

Requirements

  • Qualified Accountant or part-qualified with relevant experience
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role, ideally in a fast growth business
  • Fluency in German, Italian or other European language is essential
  • Advanced Excel (vlookup, pivot tables)
  • Good working knowledge of UK payroll, VAT & tax processes and rules
  • Understanding of accounting for multiple currencies
  • Attention to detail and an appreciation of the need to work to deadlines
  • Understanding of modern management information systems
  • A self-starter, capable of taking initiative, and understanding new systems quickly
  • Motivated and enthusiastic
  • A team player
  • Confident to deal with queries from non-finance colleagues and other stakeholders
  • Experience of Xero highly desirable but training can be given
  • Able to prioritize work schedule and be flexible around changing business needs
  • Commutable to both our London and Basingstoke offices, when needed
