Job Overview

As a member of the wider QA practice, you will work closely with your QA colleagues to ensure consistent application of best practices across the engineering team. You will also work across all of our multidisciplinary product delivery teams, alongside the QA Engineers and supporting the product team to deliver features in a rapid agile process.

The role combines both broad QA and specific testing responsibilities including the definition of acceptance criteria and the development and execution of tests (primarily automated) - with the ultimate goal of helping the engineering team deliver reliable systems that meet the requirements and customer needs. It is important for individuals joining the team to have experience in broader QA responsibilities as well as manual/automated testing.

As well as working as part of a team, QA Analysts will also have a heavier focus on our shift left / design process that enables the business to effectively drive the continuous end to end process of refinement from ideation phase through to delivery. This includes producing impactful documentation that supports the engineering team as early in the process as possible and refining it throughout the Software Delivery Lifecycle. You will work with our Architects, Technical Analysts and Engineering leads to form a view of how the new functionality and systems will be tested while championing how QA processes should be followed.

We primarily hire for aptitude not knowledge, although we would like to see prior experience in a QA role. You will be working with incredibly smart people who inspire you to learn and grow within your role. This is a cross-functional role that works across different engineering functions and the product team and we are looking for a person able to operate in both the technical implementation and requirements arenas.

  • Represent the QA function at Shift left/Design meetings throughout the SDLC and advise on testing approaches for non-functional and functional requirements.
  • Organise and write supporting documents such as how-to manuals, use cases, workflows and FAQ pages for internal teams and customers.
  • Support the QA function in sessions with relative stakeholders for driving process improvement and specific QA improvement across the engineering team.
  • Advise and contribute to strategic conversations with the QA Manager and stakeholders around QA best practice and direction of the QA Roadmap.
  • Create automated tests with industry standard tooling driving the application from the users perspective.
  • Perform non-functional testing such as: Performance, scaling, security for both TDD / BDD.
  • Curate multiple test packs related to the build pipeline. E.g. Regression packs.
  • Specify automated test cases for other members of your product team to deliver.
  • Ability to present complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Review product specification, feeding back insights to its creators and developers and capturing critical test requirements.
  • Ability to adjust to changing priorities and handle multiple projects at once.
  • Be a subject matter expert in InfoSum product offerings and be able to explain all technical aspects of products key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate issue resolution efforts with other departments to ensure timely and efficient resolutions are met and customer satisfaction is upheld.
  • Maintain proper tracking of problem resolution and conduct trend analysis for reference and management reporting.
  • Troubleshoot and investigative to resolve technical issues.
  • Support the Product Operations team by testing new features, and recreating defects if required.

Capabilities and knowledge we would need from you:

  • A minimum of 5 year’s industry experience with a degree in computer science or a related technical field being favoured.
  • Non-Functional Testing experience across both TDD and BDD.
  • Ability to refine testable requirements.
  • Supporting business acceptance criteria.
  • Able to create DDD models (with Architecture).
  • Help align the teams on a Global Glossary.
  • Champion process improvement / quality projects.

We’d love, but it’s not essential:

  • SQL experience.
  • Understanding of connectivity and file transfer protocols and tools - e.g. SSH, SFTP, Cloud Storage (S3).
  • Knowledge around data science.
