We are looking to enhance our current QA team and grow the function from a team of 2 into a team of 5 by early 2022. Reporting to our VP, Engineering Operations and Program, the QA Manager will be a critical hire in this team and will support us in this growth while also taking our QA function to the next level by enhancing our current capabilities and processes. Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all stages through our SDLC is key for the facilitation of highly effective Quality Assurance that will be delivered through this role. Responsibilities:

  • Provide significant technical leadership and delivery focus to the engineering team from a quality and test perspective ensuring that we design products for quality, performance, scalability and inherent testability.
  • Help drive a focus on usage of ubiquitous language and DDD practices.
  • Provide delivery management of QA team to ensure objectives are on time and of high quality.
  • Leading the QA team to deliver, gain acceptance and approval for overall test strategies
  • Work with developers to perform Root Cause Analysis with ability to take on board recommendations and adapt existing testing strategy for future mitigation.
  • Management of test/bug findings in the Product Backlog and preliminary problem diagnosis.
  • Ensuring the QA function is aligned and integrated with SDLC activities.
  • Work with Product Managers, Architects and developers at all stages of the SDLC.
  • Take a key role as part of Shift Left team activities (early requirements and design phase) including initial discovery and validation of solution design.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 7 years QA experience
  • A degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • TDD/BDD experience is essential
  • Proven Line Management experience.
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to create and refine QA processes and information
  • Ability to present complex technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to collate and provide reports using measures and metrics
  • Strong orientation toward problem solving with a systematic and managed approach

Skills:

  • Proven and demonstrable experience of designing, building and maturing QA capabilities and teams.
  • Understanding of Agile, ideally Kanban lifecycle methodologies.
  • Ability to manage swiftly changing requirements and pivot where expedited events demand a change in QA strategy.
  • Ability to influence decisions within the team and wider business for the benefit of the business and the product.
  • Capability to develop a deep understanding of industry use cases so that they can ultimately support and influence business and technology strategy from an ‘overall outcomes’ viewpoint.
  • Coverage techniques and curation strategy for testing
  • Non-Functional Testing focused across both TDD and BDD.
