Job Overview

Outbrain is looking for a Tax Manager to help develop the state and local tax (SALT) and indirect tax practice, including state tax nexus analysis and income tax compliance as well as various indirect tax items such as US states’ sales and use tax, value added taxes in Europe, and digital services taxes. This role will also provide the unique opportunity to work on both US state and international tax issues, as well as take part in tax planning at a fast growing and newly public company. This role will be asked to help coach the Tax Staff and work together with the Senior Tax Manager and Tax Director on a regular basis via Zoom and in person on a hybrid WFH/office schedule.

Technical Skills

  • Ability to understand and communicate technical issues surrounding state taxation, nexus concepts, and sales and use tax
  • Exposure to digital services taxes and VAT preferred
  • Experience with sales/VAT tax software preferred
  • Experience with quarterly and annual tax provision surrounding above issues
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with NetSuite ERP system is a plus
  • Experience with OneSource IT tax compliance software is a plus
  • Exposure to M&A integration planning or other tax consulting planning is a plus

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or tax is required, CPA preferred
  • 5-7 years of tax experience in SALT/indirect tax; public accounting and corporate tax experience is a plus
